Application for Turning Text into Speech
SayIt - Text to Speech Utility is an application, developed by Tiki-Taka Limited, which can read text aloud and convert it into an audio file for exporting to other programs and devices. It comes with 10 different built-in voices and support for the English language, while others, including non-English voices, can be downloaded for free.
Clear Speech
The software allows users to copy and paste text into the text box provided, and will then read the text out loud. Moreover, it provides the option to export the speech as an audio file, although exporting is restricted to the AAC and AIFF formats only. In addition, SayIt - Text to Speech Utility includes features for slowing down or speeding up the rate of speech, making it extremely clear and easy to understand.
Simple to Use
In terms of limitations, the software does not include support for inserting longer pauses, and while there are a variety of voices, it is not possible to use multiple voices for the same text, such as when characters in a novel are having a conversation. Nevertheless, it is easy to use, clear, offers support for extra third-party voices, and will read out extremely long texts, including novels.
